1975     Rob Griffin graduates “Cum Laude” from U.C. Davis with a degree in Fermentation Science


1977     Rob moves to Washington State as winemaker at Preston Wine Cellars.  At this time there are under ten wineries in Washington


1978     Preston Pinot Noir awarded Best of Show at Washington County Fair in Hillsboro, Oregon.  Deborah Barnard moves to Seattle to attend graduate school at the University of WA


1979     Preston 1978 Chardonnay awarded first ever Double Gold by the Enological Society of the Northwest


1980     Rob and Deborah are married


1983     Barnard Griffin Winery is launched.  Rob and Deborah begin production of Barnard Griffin Wines with about 400 cases produced.


1984     Rob moves Barnard Griffin production to Hogue Cellars


1991     Rob leaves position at Hogue to devote full energy to Barnard Griffin


1993     Barnard Griffin Chardonnay served at Clinton/Yeltsin Summit in Vancouver, British Columbia


1995     Barnard Griffin Chardonnay and Reserve Merlot are only wines served at Microsoft’s first summit of top CEO’s


1996     Barnard Griffin Winery and Tasting Room built in Richland, WA


2002     Barnard Griffin selected as “Winery of the Year” by Wine Press Northwest Magazine


2005     Barnard Griffin Merlot appears on Wine Spectator Magazine’s “Top 100 List”


2006     Barnard Griffin selected Northwest Winery of the Year” out of a field of over 900 wineries by Wine Press Northwest Magazine


2007     Rob Griffin celebrates 30 years of making wine in Washington


2008     Barnard Griffin’s 2007 Rosé of Sangiovese wins Best of Class and Pink Sweepstake award from the San Francisco International Wine Competition and Best of Class, and Gold at the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition     


2009     Barnard Griffin 2008 Riesling named to Wine Spectator Magazine’s “Top 100 List”


2010     Barnard Griffin begins expansion plan with construction on a new Bottling Room and climate controlled Warehouse


Barnard Griffin’s 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon wins Best Red, Best Cabernet Sauvignon and Best of Show at the 2010 Washington State Wine Competition


2011     Barnard Griffin completes construction of its new gazebo on the winery grounds as well as new massive stone and glass entrance sign


Barnard Griffin’s Rosé of Sangiovese wins for an unprecedented 6th consecutive time at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition


Barnard Griffin’s 2007 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is awarded 94 Points by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.


Barnard Griffin’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon wins Gold, Best Red and Best Cabernet Sauvignon at the 2011 Washington State Wine Competition


2012     Rob Griffin celebrates 35 years of making wine in Washington.  On a consecutive basis, Rob Griffin has been making wine in Washington State longer than any other winemaker


Barnard Griffin completes its winery renovation and expansion with a brand new tasting room, restaurant, outdoor patio, and private event space. 


As part of the new remodel/expansion, Deborah Barnard’s fused-glass studio, db gallery, was given a new home within the winery complex.


Barnard Griffin’s Rosé of Sangiovese wins for an unprecedented 7th consecutive time at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition


2013     Barnard Griffin Winery celebrates its 30th Anniversary as Washington’s Premier Family Owned Winery 


Barnard Griffin’s Chardonnay wins Best Of Class at the 2013 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest American wine competition in the world


2013 Sunset International Wine Competition awarded Best of Class and Gold to Barnard Griffin’s 2012 Rosé of Sangiovese, plus Best of Class and Gold to Barnard Griffin’s 2010 Merlot


2014     Barnard Griffin launches its new signature Griffin Label.


Barnard Griffin’s Rosé of Sangiovese was rated Best of the Best Rosés by the San Francisco Chronicle’s 2014 Wine Competition via their Sweepstake Award and a Double Gold. Their Rosé therefore has won Gold or Better in this competition for an unprecedented eight times

Barnard Griffin 2012 Fumé Blanc named the #2 Best Buy of 2014 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine
